I never thought I would do a 2D1N flight + holiday to neighbouring countries. However, I did that recently with a holiday to Hong Kong.
To minimise the cost of accommodation, we only took a 1-night accommodation at a 3-star hotel. It provided basic amenities for us to sleep and re-energise ourselves. To also maximise the amount of time we would be over the weekend, we departed SIN on Saturday at 2.25am. That meant we arrived in Hong Kong at about 6am so that we could start the Saturday on an early note.
To stretch our dollars, we took a late-night flight (9.30pm) out of Hong Kong. That meant we could plan for an evening shopping trip. Indeed we made a detour to Tung Chung - a shopping mall located in the suburbs filled with many different factory outlets. Stretching our last dollars, we bought 7 Espirit T-shirts.
We did this, because we wanted to attend Sy's friend's wedding. But the limitations of having to work made this trip - a compact and less-than-perfect trip. I wished we could have extended this trip, for I always thought that a trip to Hong Kong should last ideally 6 days. I had thoughts that we could re-visit Hong Kong and add Shenzhen, Macau & Stanley Market as part of our itinerary. Now, that thought has given me new cause to look forward to Hong Kong one more time.
